Under the Education Act of 2002 s.21 Parliament has given a range of duties and powers to Governing Bodies in the management of a Voluntary Aided Church School such as ours. Whilst the day-to-day internal management and organisation of the school is the responsibility of the Headteacher in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team and others, the Governing Body's primary role is to evaluate and monitor the adopted strategies. Governors are called upon, in conjunction with the Headteacher, the Local Authority and the Diocesan representatives, to:

  • Set the aims and objectives for the school.
  • Adopt policies for these objectives.
  • Set targets for the attainment of the aims and objectives.
The Governing Body is also responsible for the maintenance of a procedure which deals with complaints arising from various aspects of school life. Having followed through the initial procedures parents, children and other stakeholders are welcome to contact the Governing Body via the school office, with matters of concern knowing that their complaint will be properly dealt with by the appropriate authority. Correspondence should be addressed to the Chair, Mr Kevin Goad.
